"The Blue Three was an opportunity to re-create a Trio based on the legendary group lead by Dick Wellstood (piano), Kenny Davern (clarinet) and Bobby Rosengarden (drums) which had a short but productive life in the early 1970's.

Style wise, the piano chair was the most challenging to fill, and Graham Smith managed to persuade Keith Nichols to come on board. The Debut of the Trio was at Pershore Jazz Festival in 2018 followed by a number of Jazz club appearances.  Unfortunately after a short illness, Keith passed away in January 2020, thus bringing an end to what was a short but successful Trio.

We are fortunate that Jeff Barnhart will be at the Bude Jazz Festival this year and is available to fill the Piano Professor's shoes for a couple of sessions."
